Jewelry quality matters more than almost any other choice in the piercing process. The metal that sits in a fresh wound for months is in constant contact with healing tissue — the wrong alloy, the wrong finish, or the wrong shape can derail a piercing that was technically performed perfectly.

Every piece in our case meets the Association of Professional Piercers' material standards. We do not stock surgical steel of unknown grade, plated alloys, brass with gold wash, or any material that has not been independently verified safe for long-term implant contact.

Initial jewelry is the single most important variable in how well a piercing heals. We stock more than 400 pieces specifically curated for nose and septum piercings, and every option that touches a fresh piercing meets the APP's material standards.

Implant-grade ASTM F-136 titanium is our default for first-time clients. It is the same alloy used in surgical implants — proven biocompatible, hypoallergenic, light, and available in a range of anodized colors. Titanium labret studs and circular barbells are gentle enough for the most reactive skin and durable enough to last decades.

Nickel-free 14k and 18k solid gold is the other option we install on fresh piercings. We source from established body-jewelry manufacturers whose alloys are tested nickel-free at the casting stage — not gold-plated, not gold-filled, not vermeil. Outside jewelry is welcome with one condition: we inspect it first. If a piece meets APP standards for material, finish, and threading, we are happy to install it. If it does not, we will tell you honestly and offer alternatives. Installing unknown jewelry into a fresh wound is the fastest way to turn a clean piercing into a problem.

Internally threaded jewelry — where the post is smooth and the threading is on the gem or end — is the standard for safe piercing. The smooth post passes through the wound channel without dragging threads across raw tissue. We use internally threaded or threadless pieces exclusively for fresh piercings.

Externally threaded jewelry has visible threading on the post itself, and dragging those threads through a healing wound is a real source of irritation, microtears, and prolonged healing. It is cheaper to manufacture and you will find it in mall-kiosk kits. It is not what we install.

Once a piercing is fully healed, the jewelry world opens up. BVLA — Body Vision Los Angeles — is one of the most respected solid gold body-jewelry manufacturers in the industry. Their ends are hand-set with genuine gemstones, cast in solid 14k or 18k gold, and finished to a standard that makes them as much fine jewelry as body modification.

Our case carries a curated BVLA selection — clusters, marquise, bezel-set diamonds, organic forms — that we install on fully healed piercings either with your existing post or with a new one we provide. We are happy to order specific BVLA pieces on request.

Yes, you can bring jewelry from elsewhere — with one condition. We inspect it first. If the piece is solid gold or implant-grade titanium, the threading is internal, the finish is smooth, and the size is correct for your piercing, we will install it. If the piece is plated, of unknown alloy, externally threaded, or sized incorrectly, we will tell you honestly and offer alternatives.

We do not install jewelry of unknown origin into healing wounds. The cost of a single problem caused by mystery-metal jewelry — irritation, infection, scarring, loss of a piercing — is far higher than the cost of doing it right.

Healed jewelry can be cleaned periodically with sterile saline or warm water and a fragrance-free mild soap. Do not use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, jewelry polishing cloths impregnated with chemicals, or ultrasonic cleaners on body jewelry — they can degrade finishes and introduce residues that irritate the piercing.

Store unused jewelry in a clean, dry container, separated by piece. If a gem becomes loose in its setting or threading feels off, bring the piece to the studio before wearing it again.
